Public and Patient Involvement (PPI)

(PPI) Patient public involvement meeting

Researchers at the Leicester Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit (BRU) believe it is important for patients and members of the public to be involved in research and are keen to hear what you think about our research.  If you would like to have an active involvement in our research please join our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) group.

The public could be:
• Patients and potential patients
• Members of the public
• Carers
• People using healthcare services

Involvement could include:

  • Help to identify research that is important and relevant

  • Help researchers to ask the right questions in the best way
  • Help researchers to design their research studies
  • Join a research advisory group
  • Helping to support and promote good research.

If you are interested in joining our PPI group, or would like further information, please contact us on leics.respiratorybru@nhs.net or telephone us on 0116 2583370.

INVOLVE is a national advisory group funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).  INVOLVE support active public involvement in research, the NHS and public health.  Involve define public involvement in research as research being carried out ‘with’ or ‘by’ members of the public rather than ‘to’, ‘about’ or ‘for’ them. This could include, for example, helping researchers design their research, assisting or commenting on research materials or joining an advisory group.

INVOLVE share knowledge and learning on public involvement in research.  These are some of our resources that you might not be aware of:
