Exercise Testing

Exercise testing involves all types of tests such as walking tests, cycling tests and muscle strength tests.  They allow researchers to understand muscle function in conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), to study rehabilitation (which improves muscle function) and to understand what happens when patients with respiratory diseases become ill (have exacerbations).  The information they get from these studies will help them to identify further targets for new drugs, diagnostic techniques and therapies.
